Good to know

Scotland has its own Income Tax bands

Scottish rates differ from the rest of the UK. If your tax code starts with S, your employer applies them — we use the official 2026/27 Scottish bands.

Your Personal Allowance

Most people can earn £12,570 a year before paying Income Tax — in Scotland too. Above £100,000 it tapers away, £1 for every £2 you earn.

National Insurance is separate

NI doesn't follow the Scottish bands — the same UK-wide rules apply wherever in the country you pay it.

Money is serious. We don’t have to be miserable about it.
